Meet Our Newest Team Members: Rachel & George

Marchmont is thrilled to introduce our newest and youngest team members, Rachel and George, who are already making waves and helping to lower our average age! This article is a chance for those who may not know them yet to learn more about their backgrounds, passions, and what they bring to the table.

Get to Know Rachel

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Rachel grew up with a love for sports and the outdoors, playing ice hockey, soccer, and tennis, and spending summers water skiing and wake surfing in Muskoka. While pursuing a business degree at The University of Western Ontario, she honed her leadership skills as an Orientation Leader, participating in various clubs and internships. A semester abroad at the University of Birmingham sparked Rachel’s love for travel, leading her to visit 16 countries, form lasting friendships, and fall in love with the UK.

A Passion for Real Estate

Rachel’s passion for real estate ignited through her involvement with the Western Real Estate Club (WREC), where she saw firsthand how the industry shapes communities. She later served as Co-President, expanding the club’s reach and supporting students entering the field. Beyond university, Rachel deepened her real estate involvement, obtaining internships at JLL, Oxford Properties, and PwC, as well as co-founding the Ontario Real Estate Clubs Association (ORECA), which attracted over 300 students and professionals to its first event. She was also highly involved in volunteering with Proptech Collective and founded and ran a weekly job newsletter in Toronto.

Real estate is Rachel’s true passion—a mix of strategy, innovation, and market analysis to create lasting value. Always eager to stay ahead of trends, she thrives on the industry’s potential.

A Growing Profile in Real Estate

Rachel is quickly building her real estate profile in the UK. She’s active in Ladies in Real Estate and Women in Finance in London and is looking into other organisations to join. Always seeking new opportunities, Rachel networks, organises coffee chats, and attends site tours. She’s also committed to sharpening her financial skills through courses and certifications in real estate investment and analysis.

A Career Challenge and Growth

Rachel’s biggest career test came right after graduation when she moved from Toronto to London. Starting fresh in a new city, adapting to a new job, and building a network from scratch in one of the world’s busiest hubs wasn’t easy. But instead of backing down, Rachel dove headfirst into the challenge, pushing herself to meet people and grab every opportunity. This experience supercharged her personal and professional growth, making her more adaptable, proactive, and ready to tackle whatever comes next.

What She Loves About Marchmont

Rachel thrives in Marchmont’s collaborative, close-knit culture. She appreciates the open environment where ideas are freely shared and challenges are tackled as a team. Exposure to various aspects of the business—from sourcing opportunities to navigating legal processes—has given Rachel a deep understanding of the industry. The encouragement to take ownership and responsibility has significantly contributed to her development in real estate.

Beyond Work: Passion for Fitness and New Experiences

Outside of work, Rachel is passionate about fitness and new challenges. She focuses on running and strength training, aiming to complete a 10K soon. She also loves exploring—whether traveling, meeting new people, or discovering London’s parks. Her move to a new city has taught her to embrace opportunities while appreciating the journey.

We’re excited to have Rachel at Marchmont and are confident her passion for the industry and vibrant personality will be a perfect fit!

Introducing George Hatcher

Born and raised in Cornwall, George Hatcher has always had a passion for the outdoors, from rugby and hockey to surf lifesaving and sailing. After completing his studies at Truro School, he took a gap year to ski and reflect, choosing a Degree Apprenticeship over university. In 2019, he joined Workman LLP as an Apprentice Property Management Surveyor, graduating with a First-Class Degree in Real Estate Management in 2023 and earning his APC in 2024.

A Passion for Property

George’s fascination with property began at home when he saw his mum hiring a surveyor for their family’s renovation projects. His curiosity grew as he worked on small-scale development projects, gaining hands-on experience with restoration and refurbishment. Through his apprenticeship, he delved into the real estate world, and now, at Marchmont, he’s focused on Asset Management. George is eager to learn from the team and expand his knowledge in strategic and financial asset management.

A Challenging Project & Personal Triumph

One of George’s biggest triumphs came from completing his apprenticeship while juggling work and study. It was a tough journey—moving to London at 19 while his peers were enjoying university life—but his hard work paid off with well-deserved recognition. Professionally, George faced another challenge: discovering a marijuana farm and managing an industrial estate with a burned-out unit. Both

When George isn’t immersed in property, you’ll find him traveling, cooking, and entertaining. He’s adventured across Africa and the Alps for snowboarding, and attended both the Olympics and Rugby World Cup. A sports enthusiast, George also makes fitness a priority in his life.

We’re thrilled to have George at Marchmont and look forward to his continued growth and contributions to the team!
